Four hikes in four days… this may be our quickest set to date!

The combination of the lovely spring weather and rapid growth of our local Hike it Baby branch has amounted to lots and lots of group hikes on our branch calendar. Luke, Jack, and I have made lots of new “Hike it Friends” (as Luke so lovingly calls our trail buddies) on our hikes over the last couple weeks, making it nearly impossible to resist any opportunity to get out on the trail these days!

Read on for my trail notes from hikes 41 through 44 of my 52 Hike Challenge!

In an effort to keep my trail notes from completely taking over Two Kids in Tow, I’m going to publish them in sets of four. To read all of my notes in order, click on the 52 Hike Challenge category in the right sidebar.

Trail Notes

We started out on a group hike, turned around to help a friend back to the trailhead, then continued on on our own.

It has been months since Luke and I last went on a “mommy and me” hike, so today’s unexpected one was extra sweet for me. I didn’t realize how much I’d missed them!

Trail Notes

I led today’s Hike it Baby hike to the first reservoir on the Palmer Lake Reservoir Trail. It was such a relaxed and fun hike! We went about three quarters of a mile up up up to the first reservoir, where we stopped and ate lunch while the kids played in the water and scrambled up the surrounding hillside.

One of the highlights for me on this hike was a sweet older couple who stopped to talk to us while we were eating lunch. With a twinkle in his eye, the man said the sight of all of these kids outside with their mothers made him hopeful for the future. I couldn’t agree more.

Trail Notes

Luke and I hiked one of our favorite loops with our Hike it Baby branch today. This afternoon’s hike brought us up and over the 30 mile mark for this month’s Hike it Baby 30 Challenge. And to think… I almost didn’t sign up this time. I can’t wait to see our total at the end of the month!

Trail Notes

We explored a hidden gem with our local Hike it Baby branch this morning. Even after eight years in the Springs, I had no idea this place even existed! I love finding tiny wild spaces in the middle of the city.
