At long last, winter is here. We’ve made it through our first couple of snowstorms of the year and even completed our first few snowy hikes. All of our preparation has paid off! Each wintery hike makes me more and more confident about making lots of fun memories this season.

Read on for my trail notes from hikes 21 through 24 of my 52 Hike Challenge!

In an effort to keep my trail notes from completely taking over Two Kids in Tow, I’m going to publish them in sets of four. To read all of my notes in order, click on the 52 Hike Challenge category in the right sidebar.

Trail Notes

Luke and I set a new record today: our coldest hike to date! I hiked/dragged Luke behind me on a sled along the trails of one of our favorite parks in about 23 degrees Fahrenheit. It may not seem like a big deal, but getting out and enjoying our few hours together in below-freezing temperatures made this hike special for me.

Luke and I met up with our local Hike it Baby branch for a hike at Stratton Open Space. We explored a couple of different trails and enjoyed the sunshine. As has been the case for our last several hikes, Luke wanted to hike this one all by himself. I could get used to this!

Trail Notes

I’ve been off my groove all week, but managed to get us out for a windy, muddy, gorgeously sunny hike just before lunch this morning. It was everything we needed to kick our weekend off to a great start. Luke hiked, stomped, and jumped the entirety of this trail on his own two feet and had an absolute blast doing it.
