We’ve had another stretch of nice weather this week, with highs reaching all the way into the low 70s! We’ve also hosted a couple of visitors this week and have had them along for a couple of our hikes. It’s fun sharing some of our favorite places with some of our favorite people.

Read on for my trail notes from hikes 13 through 16 of my 52 Hike Challenge!

In an effort to keep my trail notes from completely taking over Two Kids in Tow, I’m going to publish them in sets of four. To read all of my notes in order, click on the 52 Hike Challenge category in the right sidebar.

Trail Notes

I originally planned to do the four mile Templeton Trail loop, but Luke had other plans for our outing. He hiked on his own two feet for the mileage we did do, but insisted on taking long breaks to dig in the dirt with his toy tractors. As I mentioned in a previous set of trail notes, I’m trying really hard not to push my mileage goals on Luke when he clearly wants to sit and play instead of hike, but it is sometimes difficult for the list-checker in me.

We kicked off our November Hike It Baby 30 with a hike at Red Rock Canyon. My sister arrived for a visit late last week and joined us on our usual weekend hike. We got some rare photos of all three (four!) of us, thanks to Auntie Jaz!

Trail Notes

Grandma came down for a short visit and went with us to Cheyenne Mountain State Park for today’s hike. We explored the Coyote Run Trail and enjoyed watching Luke scramble over the big rocks along the path. He hiked about a half mile on his own two feet before we decided to pick up the pace a bit.

There are a couple of trails that connect with this one that I’d love to come back and explore later. (Perhaps I need to get a Colorado state park pass?!)

Trail Notes

Luke and I joined our local Hike it Baby branch for a hike along the Black Forest Section 16 trail. It was the best turnout I’d experienced since I joined back in late August. I wholeheartedly love these group hikes! It’s really awesome hiking with other outdoor loving mommas.
