Gas Works Park | Seattle, Washington
I first learned about Gas Works Park in Luke’s book, Good Night Seattle. Once a gas manufacturing plant, the city of Seattle took over the site in the 1960s and opened the park to the public in 1975. Set right on the shores of Lake Union, you can enjoy a wonderful view of downtown Seattle from the observation areas on the south side of the park.
One rain-free Saturday afternoon presented us with the perfect opportunity to explore a new part of the city and check off another place on Luke’s Seattle bucket list. Luke and I ran around the park, stomped in puddles, and wandered around the bright colored machinery inside of the children’s play barn.
TIP: Hang out long enough to watch the seaplanes taking off and landing on Lake Union. The planes were the main event, in Luke’s humble opinion!
