Grove of the Patriarchs Loop | Mount Rainier National Park, Washington
Although Luke and I are technically newcomers to the state of Washington, I have visited close to a dozen times since my family moved here in 2006. There’s something about the Pacific Northwest that speaks directly to my soul. When the opportunity came to choose where Luke and I were going to spend this year, I knew immediately where we would go: Washington.
One of my favorite spots in Washington is Mount Rainier National Park. The volcano has an almost mystical quality to it, and this is compounded by the fact that it spends much of the year hiding behind the clouds and mist.
Luke and I drove with a few of my siblings to the park to hike one of the easier, yet incredibly scenic old forest trails in the park, the Grove of the Patriarchs Loop. An enjoyable hike even for those who don’t consider themselves hikers, we all had a wonderful time exploring the southeast corner of the park.
